No-Gi Submission Grappling offers the participant an incredibly intense and complete physical workout. It challenges you to use your body in ways that would never be utilized during normal weight or cardiovascular training. The intense abdominal workout helps you improve your core strength and increase your muscle tone. As you burn more calories with every workout, you get to improve your balance, muscular endurance, cardiovascular capacity, and body coordination. No-Gi Submission Grappling places more of an emphasis on balance, positioning, and movement which creates a faster-paced competition. Unlike other types of combat sport, it requires a deep mastery of human body mechanics, technique, and the use of leverage to gain full dominance over your opponent Participants wear a pair of board shorts and a rash-guard or t-shirt, which allows for accelerated transitions between movements.

If you have Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, or Judo experience, it is easier to transition into No-Gi Submission Grappling training. However, if you are new to grappling, we highly recommend beginning your training with our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes.
No. Beginner classes focus on teaching basic techniques and safety, and you can then work your way up to controlled sparring in class.
Students wear an Evolve Academy training t-shirt or rash guard and Evolve board shorts when training in our Adult Submission Grappling classes.
