Evolve is a great place with the best instructors, excellent facility, terrific programs, and all around great feel! My daughter is the kids Gracie Jiujitsu program. She absolutely loves it! It has been essential to her self confidence and self-defense. What I really love about her class is that the instructors teach respect but still make it fun. Evolve is a true family, I love it! Our Muay Thai for the Street striking class is a hybrid of stand-up martial arts disciplines. We teach you what works, and leave out what doesn't. While our striking program pulls from multiple disciplines, the techniques are grounded primarily in Muay Thai Kickboxing. Muay Thai is known as "the art of eight limbs" because the art utilizes the hands, elbows, knees, and feet. For centuries the art of Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) has been the most effective stand-up combat in the world.

What makes our system so unique is that we have tweaked traditional Muay Thai training to make it more practical for the everyday practitioner.

Most Martial Arts systems teach and train in a traditional way that has been carried on throughout the centuries. A lot of the Hollywood-style punches and kicks will never work in a real-life situation. This is great if a student wants to carry on the art as a tradition or wants to compete in a tournament or controlled environment; however, it becomes useless in a real-life situation. Muay Thai for the Street trains for all areas of a real confrontation, making it the most functional martial arts system available!

Do I have to be in good shape to study Muay Thai for the Street? What kind of gear do I need to purchase in order to take Muay Thai for the Street classes?

No. In fact, Muay Thai for the Street is one of the best workouts you can do to get in shape if you’re not happy with your current fitness level. It works your entire body. Over time, you can increase the intensity of your workouts to continue to challenge your body.

Initially, you will only be required to purchase 16 oz. boxing gloves, a training t-shirt (often provided during your trial classes), and optional mouthpiece. As you progress in our program, you will begin learning how to spar so you will eventually need the protective equipment necessary to keep your training environment safe. This normally occurs at approximately 6 months into the program.

Is Muay Thai for the Street good for self-defense?

Yes. Muay Thai for the Street teaches students to leverage their own body weight as well as their opponent’s weight. Students learn practical moves that are ideal for self-defense – and Muay Thai for the Street also builds good reflexes, which are essential in a fight.

Yes. However, it is important to combine Muay Thai for the Street with a healthy diet and lifestyle if you want your body to be lean and strong. Muay Thai for the Street burns a lot of calories but you may have problems if you eat a diet high in sugar and processed foods.
